Dear Stars,
Thank you for giving me humility and
awe. For lighting the vast shadow of limitless space. For inspiring
sparkling thoughts and diamond sprinkled analogies.
For showing us the way, when we are
lost at sea, or on land, for never wavering in your brilliant
constancy.
I love your constellations, the way you
spin your galaxies just so. Some people might say you're too hot
tempered, but I think you're super, nova or not.
Yet, most of all, I wanted to thank you
for giving everyone here at planet blue a place to hang our wishes,
even when you fall.
Long may you shine.
Love,
-Sara

nice..we used to wish on shooting stars when we were kids... i wonder what they would tell about all the dreams and hopes being sent to them...a bit of magic in the everyday...i love star watching..nice..
ReplyDeleteHi Claudia
DeleteLove that idea of what the stars could tell us...I still wish on shooting stars:-)
What a lovely tribute letter to the stars! I liked seeing them through your eyes.
ReplyDeleteThank you Peggy! So happy you stopped by:-)
DeleteThis is a fun read. Your final, " Yet, most of all, I wanted to thank you for giving everyone here at planet blue a place to hang our wishes, even when you fall.
ReplyDeleteLong may you shine." ...is perfect. Really enjoyed this!
Thank you very much it was fun to write too:-)
Deletevery creative. Love the idea of the poetic letter. Great ode to the stars. Thanks
ReplyDeleteHi Fred! Thank you for your lovely words. Really appreciate the visit :-)
DeleteLovely letter indeed :-)
ReplyDeleteHi! So nice to see you again glad you enjoyed my celestial correspondence :-)
DeleteWhere would dreamers and poets be without the stars to daydream upon or to make a wish.
ReplyDeleteLoved this letter Sara :)
Hi Brenda, you always understand me. And your comments are like poems themselves. Thank you:-)
Deleteha i like this.....its fun that you chose the stars as opposed to a person.....i do enjoy looking at them...and making a few wishes on them...smiles...
ReplyDeleteThank you Brian! I always like to play with the prompts :-)
DeleteThis is lovely letter to the stars...for making our nights magical and specially when they fall ~
ReplyDeleteHi Grace! Thank you for your beautiful compliment :-)
DeleteThis is a lovely letter to the stars....For making our nights magical, and specially when they fall ~
ReplyDeleteBeautifully written, Sara. Stars definitely give us humility. We are so small in their presence. I smiled when you wrote about them being 'hot tempered.' Indeed they are, but they wouldn't exist if they weren't, would they? LOL. I enjoyed your ending...indeed, long may they shine.
ReplyDeleteMary thank you for such a generous and thoughtful compliment! A popular astrophysicist said he feels as large as the universe and a part of it because we are all made of stardust--I love that thought, but my first instinct when looking into space is "wow, I'm small":-)
DeleteDefinitely deserves five stars!
ReplyDeleteHa! :-). A bonus compliment-came with a laugh and a smile-- Thank you!!
DeleteOh, I so love this poem! Absolutely wonderful!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much Sherry, I really loved your poem as well. :-)
ReplyDeleteSara, this is beautiful. Sometimes I'm afraid we're in such a hurry that we forget to nurture our sense of awe. Maybe I need to just speak for myself. But as poets, I believe we are called to see.
ReplyDeleteVictoria What a brilliant observation :-)
DeleteWe do live in a hurried state--even poets. And that is exactly what I love about poetry and art, music, the visions we create and capture. Thank you so much for your comments!
This is cute and very well done.
ReplyDeleteThank you Kristina!
DeleteLOVE. Gorgeous throughout, and particularly clever here:
ReplyDelete"but I think you're super, nova or not."
