Speeding car at night
No headlights
Yet, enlightening
One call
Friends picked up
The pieces
With love, without judgment
As if the moon had
Split and shot
A beam that
Pierced terror
Released peace
Shining on a
Simple word
Love

True story--not me driving, fortunately it was emotional pieces--not pieces of me. At the time was completely stressed about 3 tests in one day--it was an epiphany--or being smacked upside the head with something I'd known all along--the big stuff in life is love/friends/family. Everything else is relative.

ReplyDeleteThank you Brian! Always nice to see you and your words always make me smile :-)
DeleteSara, I think friends are the people you can phone and they ARE there for you....with love and without judgment, as you wrote here. Fortunate indeed is anyone who has even one friend like that! Your words are gold!
ReplyDeleteThank you Mary for the wonderful compliment! It feels like this poetic community you helped create, people who leave words of encouragement not judgment :-)
DeleteI agree that everything is relative...you soon discover it is so specially when you have an accident or a major life crisis ~
ReplyDeleteThank you Grace, it's funny how it seems to take something like that to make us see more clearly...
DeleteI love the image of the moon shining on the word love... I'm glad it wasn't pieces of you!
ReplyDeleteThank you Serena, I was extremely thankful for that too. And I'm so glad you liked the moon imagery it took me awhile to get that wording right :-)
DeleteWe do get our values all mixed up, don't we?

3 tests in one day would stress anyone. I have had a couple of epiphany's now, and I cannot tell you how 'connected' to that 'oneness' I became. It's such an amazing feeling, to become finally aware that, everything, we see, touch, hear, smell, and taste is all... love.
Thanks for your comment and the understanding, it meant a lot to me.
