Be Free

Fumbling with attachments
Bumbling blood relations
Makes you dread kin
When they inspire
Such ire
A blood feud?
Dude--
Let it R.I.P.
In spite of the sting
From pulling
Free
Do it quickly
Sometimes that's
How it has
To be

Not biographical, just my evil twin muse tiring of a month of daily visits to the hospital and rehab.  Fortunately we are finally seeing some light. Offered up for Trifecta challenge of writing about blood as in "kin"  http://www.trifectawritingchallenge.com at and for Laurie's bee-utiful prompt at Poetry Jam poetryjaam.blogspot.com

    1. Hi Mary!! Thank you for the sympathy, blood feud was just a fun way to play with the Trifecta prompt and it let me use a word that almost always makes me laugh (blame my CA roots) "dude" :-) though I do think you gotta just forgive and let things go.

  3. In spite of the sting pulling free - lots of truth there, you have to be stung sometimes if you want to be free. Very thought provoking, well done.

  6. ah isnt that the truth though...you have to def pull away quickly otherwise it will suck the life right out of you....there are some feuds like that which seem to live well beyond their time so even the reasons are forgotten...rather sad actually...

i hope your family member is healing up

  7. Yes, sometimes you just have to let it go.

I hope your FIL is better, Sara... I've missed you. Caring for the sick can be so draining... don't forget to take care of you.

    1. Hi Laurie!! So good to see you and get a poem and some blog visits in. This visiting stuff is critical because patients need an advocate, but exhausting. Thx for missing me;-) Will be taking a quick vacay when he's out of rehab. Looking forward to that

    1. Claudia!! Thank you for the kind wishes. Funny thing about this poem I wrote it really tongue in cheek-- lots of wordplay and no one saw it. Lesson for me some things are not funny. Or maybe the comments colored it?

    1. Hi Amy!! Knew you would get it--thank you so much for the prayers--just moved him and his wife (who has Alzheimers) into assisted living today. Everyone is breathing a little easier--including him :-) Thank you for the love--didn't feel ripped, it's just so interesting how people react and read. Makes me wonder if I would have left a light hearted comment if the reaction would have been different--I'll take the love of the poem--whoever the beholder is ;-)

  17. Sooo clever! Family woes are such a drag, but the wisdom of letting go and pulling the barbs out fast before they poison to much ... smart and good advice ...

  18. First off I want to say terrific blog! I had a quick question which I'd like to ask if you don't
mind. I was curious to know how you center yourself
and clear your mind before writing. I've had a tough time clearing my thoughts in getting my ideas out there. I truly do take pleasure in writing but it just seems like the first 10 to 15 minutes are lost simply just trying to figure out how to begin. Any ideas or tips? Many thanks!
