Booked

My nose has always been
In
A book
And writing one
Seemed simple
In
Theory it is
In
Practice it's not
Wrote two novels
Too many
My nose has always been
In
A book
But
My heart has always been
In
Poetry

This was written for the prompt at Think Tank Thursday at Poets United  to write about the book you're reading. I am chain reader of romantic comedy. And in deep admiration of authors who can write and revise ad nauseum until the story is ready to publish.  If you want names of good romantic comedy, let me know and I'll give you a list.  Also love Sharon Creech, and The Secret Life of Bees and ...

  2. Oh! Sharon Creech is an absolute favorite of mine! And I loved The Secret Life of Bees. I read all the "Confessions of a Shopaholic" author's books last summer. Wonderful. :) I also enjoy Meg Cabot.

Love this piece. And, of course, can fully relate. :)

    1. De,
      Here's my favorite authors:
Jennifer Crusie--makes me laugh out loud
Suzanne Elizabeth Phillips--great characters and also so funny
      Susan Donovan-snappy funny women
Julie Garwood-"The Secret" she's who got me back into reading romance--it's one of those scottish highlands books, but great story.
Cristina Dodd--she's more romantic suspense, but great characters (though I'm not too thrilled with her recent series of kind of fantasy/paranormal books)
Nora Roberts-Jewels of the Sun, Tears of the Moon, and Heart of the Sea--set in Ireland so fun.
Luanne Rice--she's not funny, but she writes so beautifully, like poetry (and about sailing and the ocean...)
      Enjoy!!

  4. This is perfect. Mo nose always is in a book too.......when I was a kid I kept hearing "what are you doing with your nose in a book? you should be Out in the Sunshine!" Since age 5, that's sixty years, I have been carrying home an armload of books every week. Loved your poem. My heart is in poetry too:)

  5. Thank you for sharing. As they say about writers, they are voracious readers. It is through books that they better their trade.

  6. Dear Sara,
Thank you for dropping by and I am so glad to find someone who loves DUNE! I could not get enough of anything written by Frank Herbert then.

Reading followed by writing is what I live and breathe and eat at the moment. My first love though, was and maybe will always be - poetry!

    1. Nino, I know! I couldn't wait for the next book by Frank Herbert :-)

I'm with you on the reading and writing as well, can't imagine life without either. Thought I would really love writing long stories, but like you, poetry was my first love, and I think it probably always will be my true love ;-)

  9. So many good books to choose from. I'd love to publish mine, but poetry seems to be where my heart is, too.

  10. Laurie, I'm sure that I, and the rest of the world would love to read your book! You might want to e-publish and offer it on Amazon and Barnes and Noble. Several of my writing friends have had success with that. Your heart is definitely in your poetry :-)
