Bubbling In Spaces

Artist Ken Waterstreet

Sparkling prismatic puffs
Breathe out and make magic
No logic just
Reflections, rainbows
And a grin
Blown into existence
Holding space
Like dancing leap
And then
Pop!
Dissolving into
Nothing

This poem is for Poetry Jam poetryjaam.blogspot.com who asked us to write a poem about logic, there is no logic to how blowing bubbles appeals to any age--it's magic! And Poets United who asked for a poem about patterns. poetryblogspot.blogspot.com Bubbles create wonderful patterns.  This is a painting by a friend of mine--he was also my high school art teacher.  His paintings are amazing, lush and wonderful.  Check him out at  http://www.sdgallery.com/catalogs/waterstreet/2006/index.htm

  1. Sara, really that is a nice painting done by your friend/high school art teacher. I like 'sparkling prismatic puffs." I also can picture reflections POPPING and then dissolving into nothing. No logic...but beautiful patterns while they last.

    1. Hi Mary!! Thank you, I thought about it later, that I could have made this more meaningful--tied it back to fragility of life or something, but not much time to ponder lately. :-) Bubbles have always been one of my favorite things :-)

  2. I like the idea that what makes them officially exist, valid, is there own enjoyment. It doesn`t matter if you leave nothing behind ~ you exist to yourself...and that's all you need.

    1. Hi Sarah! Welcome :-) And I love your take on this, it is so interesting how many different ways words feel, are read. You caught my meaning, fun for fun's sake :-)

    1. Hi Brian!! So glad you enjoyed the art, he is a very talented artist. Bubbles are lots of fun. He dropped food coloring into them to give them even more rainbows. :-)

  9. Sara, you are lucky to have had him for a teacher. Loved the way this fit both prompts - it's almost antilogic to me, too, because those small miracles, those everyday moments, are wonderful blessings and always inspiration for a good scribble. Thanks so much for stopping by mine, and sorry I've not been around lately, more grey...

Love, and GREAT job on this, it really picked me up! Amy

    1. Hi Amy!! I'm always happy to see you here and thrilled to have your words in my inbox. Hope that the grey is fading. And you're right, I was striving for some antilogic. I loved Spock in Star Trek, but in real life, logic is not where I live...:-) Thank you for your wonderful words--Love back atcha
