Maya-be

Maybe
Age should not be measured in
Years, instead let's measure
Amounts of

Altruism
Never giving up
Giggles
Enthusiasm
Love
Open Armed Hugs and
Understanding

This is offered for Peggy's prompt at Poetry Jam poetryjaam.blogspot.com about age, and also a for Poets United poetryblogroll.blogspot.com, where Rosemary honored Maya--a little acrostic for Maya who was one for the ages, and who gave us all a shining example of what happens when (in her words) we encounter many defeats but are not defeated.

  1. Your acrostic is full of energy, Sara. I like your suggestion for counting age. A very apt tribute for a wonderful woman and crafter of words.

    1. Hi Brian! She was/is one influential woman. I wasn't as familiar with her quotes until at her passing--they were posted everywhere, and so many spoke to me :-)

  7. Just lovely, Sara. In the spirit, I think, of one of my favorite Maya Angelou quotes: “Try to be a rainbow in someone’s cloud.”
