Just give me a canopy
Needley
Risers that spear the sky
Redwood preferably
Boughs splitting sunlight
Geometrically
Into prisms that carry
Dust motes, sparkly
Add chirps, breezes, sighs
Melody
With a patch of moss
To pillow my head, softly
For-
Resting and testing words
Easily
Like how shadows play
Between the letters
From Z to A
Where I can shake my
Limbs freely
And create
Poet-
Tree

ReplyDeleteThank you Brian--glad to meet another muse enchanted by the forest, I enjoy wordplay--though sometimes they don't always play with me...
DeleteI enjoyed this so much. Loved thinking of a Poet-tree. I could use one of those. Very clever. I am really glad you shared with Poetry Jam.
ReplyDeleteMary thank you very much! That kinda came up at the last minute when I was playing with "for-rest."
DeleteI'm enjoying Poetry Jam's poets and it's prompts :-)
Oh, YES. Gimme that, too. :)
ReplyDeleteEspecially love "Needley
Risers that spear the sky" and the play on "Poet Tree" at the end. Excellent.
Thank you De! Apparently "needley" is a fav, so glad that you enjoyed it too.
DeleteI think we need all need to grow a Poet-tree somewhere
Oh nice visit to the redwoods--I went there too in my response. Beautifully painted. Thanks for visiting my blog as well.
