Prompt from Poetry Jam--Write a blind poem
She sees life
In stripes
Horizontal divisions
Of dark and light
Reflected on the floor
The round oak table
The dog
It's a zebra world
She wanders in
Her hand turns
The clock
Turns
And the light goes
Out
While the night comes
In

A zebra world....such an interesting concept, but I really can picture it. I must say I REALLY like the last four lines! Thanks for jamming with us!
ReplyDeleteMary, thank you so much! Really appreciate your comments and you have a great group of jammers :-)
DeleteI can just see the stripes of light filtering in between the blinds. Very nicely written indeed! Thanks for playing along with us at Poetry Jam!
ReplyDeleteThank you Mary, I'm thrilled with all these wonderful comments!
Deletereally nice progression in this one...nice imagery...the out and in play in the last couple lines is just great...
ReplyDeleteBrian, welcome to the site and thank you so much for your kind words!
DeleteI've read this three times now and am taken each time by the progression as Brian mentioned. Yes, the last four lines are superb.
ReplyDeleteWelcome! I have to say that your comments totally made my day. To think of someone taking the time to read through this poem 3 times and enjoying each time--I'm overwhelmed. Thank you!
DeleteFirst, I must say the image greeting your readers is beyond awesome ~ incredibly beautiful! Using window blinds as a catalyst for your poem ~ unique, clever.
ReplyDeletePS .. both word verifications contained the name 'ona' which was my mother's name.
DeleteWelcome Helen! Thank you for your wonderful words, I really appreciate you taking the time to visit me. Ona is a beautiful name :-)
DeleteLOVE "zebra world" and "She sees life
ReplyDeleteIn stripes."
Wonderful!
Thank you De! This was one of those that just flowed, and zebra just jumped into the flow...
DeleteI enjoyed this stripey picture, thanks. *smiles*
ReplyDeleteBut I didn't enjoy the double word verification - it is SUCH a time waster!
Hi Jinksy! Thank you very much for stopping by--sorry about the verification--still new to the technology, I'm trying to find a better way, hope that you'll hang in with me on the journey *wink*
