We held our
Breaths the balance
Seemed so fragile
Caught between
Sunset and Moonrise
Orange to the west
Dissolved to darkness
While orange in the
East grew
An enormous
Moon balloon
Filled the horizon
And threw its
Light across the
Sea
An amber invitation
To the sky
It was
Awe
Full
Written for the second day of PAD, prompt from the talented Khara House to write about a full moon. This is a true story. An incredible harvest moon that seemed to send an invitation across the sea. Also shared with the wonderful poets at Poets United Poetry Pantry poetryblogroll.blogspot.com And just found out about Blog 4 Peace so I'm linking this to that as well--Peace!!

Very pretty poem! I would have enjoyed seeing that scene in real life. Your words make it sound magical. :)
ReplyDeleteHi Rachel!! I would have loved to have everyone there, unfortunatelyit was too dark to take a picture. Thank you for the magic :-)
DeleteLovely...I can picture this gorgeous scene. Awe full...love that.
ReplyDeleteHi Jennifer!! So glad you could join me in that moment and that you liked my ending, it made me laugh, so I had to go with it:-)
DeleteThis was a very beautiful poem, I hope to one day see that moon.
ReplyDeleteHi! Thank you so much for the visit!! I hope you see it some day too:-)
DeleteBegins with a slight mystery and ends with a click-shut. Perfect prescription.
ReplyDeleteHi Dave!! So nice to see you. I like your description too:-)
DeleteYour poem makes me wish you had a photograph of it. Being a water sign I am swayed by both water and the moon. :)
ReplyDeleteLovely imagery.
Hi Brenda!! I wish I had a photo too, tried-it was too dark. We were definitely swaying-swooning out there :-) Thank you for wonderful words.
DeleteWelcome!! Sharing a smile is the best compliment you could give me, thank you:-)
ReplyDeleteHi Sara....in response to what you wrote at my site, PA was what originally gave me my start in exploring the greater blogosphere. Eventually, however, I could not post on the PA site (some glitch!) and just kind of gave up on doing it. But I will be doing them in 'lumps' throughout the month. I will follow your blog and look for yours. It is fun to play along with someone. Smiles.
ReplyDeleteHi Mary!! I love that idea :-) I think I may follow your idea of "lumping" too, I don't like to overwhelm people with a poem a day--doesn't give people enough time to visit and post. So funny, how we both had that same issue with the posting, and that is what gave me my first start into the blogosphere too--now look at you--with Poetry Jam!! Very cool. Looking forward to sharing and playing *smile*
Deletewhat beautiful imagery...like it was there watching it and marveling in awe...smiles.
ReplyDeleteHi Brian!! Really enjoyed having you along, so glad you could see it too--thank you!!
Deleteawesome imagery in your piece... i love it!
ReplyDeleteHi Bing! You had beautiful imagery and attitude in your poem--thank you so much for the compliment :-)
DeleteJust loved the ending..... so much is 'awe-ful' about this poem. And the title "Luna-sea" was oh so very clever!
ReplyDeleteMary, thank you so much!! You always catch those little nuances. Was hoping that "awe-full" didn't throw people off, but everyone seemed to enjoy it :-)
DeleteYour vision and creation of the scene are spot on. I really like the way you use enjambment to accent the movement in the piece. Well done.
ReplyDeleteHi Kim!! It's great to see you here--you made my day with your comment on my interview, I was hoping you'd make your way over here :-) Thank you for your lovely words and for giving me a new word--too "enjambment" that is one of my favorite things to do--me and Bob Marley-we be "enjambin'" *giggle*
DeleteLOVE that "enormous moon balloon," Sara. Brilliant!
ReplyDeletede
Hi De!! Always so wonderful to see you :-) Making me glow with happiness, thank you!
DeleteI have to repeat what other mentioned above...I loved the rhymes you tucked in, as well as the word play at the end.
ReplyDeleteHi Jack!! Thank you very much for the visit and for enjoying the rhymes--I try to stay away from them, but they always seem to sneak in when I'm not looking. :-)
Deleteoh i can see her in her beauty...isn't she most magical in her fullness...
